…As CWONLA, Lekki blesses water depot on Funday

Catholic women have been urged to be prayerful, and not allow the devil steal the joy that God implanted in them as mothers, especially in the face of challenges confronting the society and world they live in. The charge was given by Rev. Fr. Martin Meke, while delivering the homily during the 9th annual thanksgiving Funday 2025 and inaugural CLD Table Water Waves Award, organised by Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria, Lagos Archdiocese (CWONLA), Lekki Deanery recently at Ave Maria Catholic Church, Lekki, Lagos Stating that irrespective of what they may be going through, Fr. Meke reminded the women that it is in the midst of challenges that they can sanctify themselves and attain holiness.

Fr. Meke said God created women to be sources of light to their family, and world at large, as he commended them for ensuring the smooth running of their homes, irrespective of challenges of the present time. Harping on the importance of women’s happiness to the world, community, and society, the priest urged them to continue to usher in joy in every aspect of their lives, in all situations and in all that they do. Also speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Judith Bulama, Coordinator, CWONLA, Lekki Deanery, thanked God for His goodness, mercy, and faithfulness, as she stated that the moment is not just a celebration, but also a renewal of their mission to serve God by serving His people.

Mrs. Bulama further said that Lekki CWONLA’s mission is to be God’s compassion in motion, His empowerment in action, and His witness in the world, stating that through their Marian devotions, Bread For All outreaches, charity Ankara outreaches, sustainable empowerment initiatives, media evangelism, and impactful support to the vulnerable, they bring Christ to the places where hope struggles to breathe. According to her, “Each child fed, each family supported, each soul encouraged, these are our offerings to Christ Himself.” She said the day marks a milestone of grace, the commissioning of the first CLD Table Water Mini Depot, which she noted is more than a project.

According to her, “It is a symbol of growth, a pathway to sustainable empowerment, and living proof that when God opens a door, no power can close it. .”Anchored in our W.A.V.E.S. ldeology; Water, Advocacy, Visibility, Empowerment, Sustainablity, we are transforming compassion into long-term impact. Today, through the CLD Table Water WAVES Awards, we celebrate individuals and institutions who are creating real waves of change in alignment with this divine blueprint.

“We also honour our Senior Citizens (ICONIC MOTHERS), Silent Workers, and Ardent Supporters. Their lives of sacrifice and service illuminate God’s glory, and guide us toward greater faithfulness. May their legacy continue to inspire our mission. Calling for support, she urged the people to do more, reach wider, build stronger, and serve deeper as the future requires bold partners, visionary supporters, and generous patrons whose giving becomes a testimony of worship.
