The Catholic Diocese of Yola has
begun the year with ordination of
two deacons, preparatory to their
priestly ordination.
The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese,
Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza who pre-
sided over the ordination ceremony at St
Francis Catholic Church reminded the
newly transitional ordained deacons to
live exemplary life by serving God with
love and joy.
While congratulating the newly or-
dained deacons brother Philip Paulus
and Clifford Okeke, Bishop Mamza
thanked them for their courage and ded-
ication in giving their lives to priesthood.
The clergy also reminded them that as
ordained deacons, they are to help the
Bishop, priests in charity by assisting
them in celebrating holy mass, partake
in burial right and administering of sac-
raments, among others.
He said as deaconsthey are expected to
defend the Catholic faith and stand for
the church.
Earlier in his new year message, Bishop
Mamza appreciated God for successful-
ly witnessing the year 2020 and advised
the congregation to evaluate their lives
and ensure they live in accordance with
teaching of Jesus Christ.
The cleric who also pray for better days
ahead of the year 2020, appealed to both
Christians and Muslims to continue to
live peaceful with one another.
