The Parish Priest of St Rita Catholic
Church, Obadeyi, Lagos, Rev Fr.
Philip Uchendu, has urged the
leadership of the Christians Association
of Nigeria to work for the unity of all
Christians irrespective of denomination.
Fr Uchendu said unity of Christians
was so dear to Jesus’ heart adding that
the leadership of the association should

ensure that all churches were brought to-
gether under its umbrella.

He stated this on Saturday, February
9, while addressing Christians at the
church during a programme organised
by CAN, Ijaiye/Ojokoro district to round
off its 7-day revival/prayer for Christians
in the district.
The association, headed by Apostle
Wonderful Atobatele, had during the
week visited other churches to organise
the revival and prayers where the people
prayed over different intentions.
Fr. Uchendu, who commended the

leadership of the association for the pro-
gramme, said the Catholic Church had

opened wide her doors to see how to
bring all churches together.

“We worship one God and God is hap-
py when we are one and work for the

unity, progress and peaceful co-existence
of all Christians.
“The unity of all Christians is so dear to
our Lord Jesus Christ and that was why
He prayed that all Christians may be one.

Speaking on the theme, “New Anoint-
ing for Uplifting” from Psalm 92:10, Sir

Bidemi Oyelade, who is also Chairman,

Liturgical Committee at St Rita, de-
scribed anointing as “rubbing something

or somebody with oil for consecration. It
is a spirit of God coming upon a material
substance. “
Oyelade, who ministered at CAC,

Trumpeter, Oke Adeyaju, Ijaiye, said Je-
sus was the real anointed one who was

lifted on the cross.
He said as anointing helped David to
defeat Goliath, same it does to enemies
of those anointed by God.
He, however, warned Christians to do
away with sins, saying “this is the only
impediment to the continuous flow of
anointing.”
He specifically spoke on “anointing of
recognition” which he said “makes you
to see beyond the ordinary. “
Also speaking on the same theme
on Saturday at St Rita, Rev. Dr. I. O.
Ogunkambi of Olorunsogo Baptist
Church, Ijaiye, enumerated the various
blessings attached to anointing by God.
He said, “Anointing will not allow you
to retrogress, you will move forward.
Anointing helps you to hear good news
and recover all lost glories.
Ogunkambi, who lauded the Catholic

Church for the fresh relationship be-
tween her and other Christian churches,

appreciated Fr. Uchendu for “opening
the church for other churches to come
in. “
The chairman of CAN in the district,
Gen Apostle Atobatele Wonderful,
appealed to Fr Uchendu to encourage
Catholic women and youths to join
the women and youth wings of CAN
respectively.
