Hebrew 6:19 ties the anchor to the concept of “hope”, and hence Christians’ hope of salvation through Christ. Missionaries of the United Methodist Church wear the anchor cross as a reminder that their work should always be ‘anchored in faith, hope and love.’ Jesus is our anchor, but that doesn’t mean that we would not face the storms. It simply illustrates the fact that we have something bigger than us which will provide a firm foundation to steady us when the storms of life come. BETTY AMUKPO asks, ‘who is your anchor?’ Some youngsters respond thus:
‘Anchor metaphorically represents God and Faith’
An anchor is a person or thing who provides you with stability and confidence in a changing, frantic and uncertain world. In the Scripture, the term anchor metaphorically represents God and Faith – that which keeps us steadfast and gives us hope during the trials and storms of life Hebrews 6 tells us that it is our hope that is the “anchor of our soul.” Hebrews 6:19 Anchor symbolises a brilliant and a happy life.

‘Jesus provides stability and security for the soul’
My anchor is Jesus Christ (Hebrews 6:19-20). He provides stability, security and fame for the soul. “God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Jesus is the rock that holds fast, providing hope and steadfastness in times of uncertainty.

‘Mary, the Mother of God, is my anchor’
Mary, the Mother of God, is my anchor, because she represents unwavering faith and steadfast devotion. Her acceptance of God’s will, (Luke 1:28) despite uncertainty, exemplifies profound trust and humility. Her role as a nurturing mother and spiritual guide offers a model of perseverance and compassion, grounding and inspiring your own faith journey.

‘Just as anchors bring safety to travellers on ships, Jesus prevents me from drifting too far’
Jesus is my anchor! He is my stronghold that holds me in place; my shepherd and my protector (Psalms 23). Just as anchors bring safety to travellers on ships being rocked by storms, Jesus prevents me from drifting too far off his path, heading possibly into dangerous dark places. The Holy Spirit is the rope attached to our anchor, Jesus. If I cling to Jesus, who is my anchor, then I will also be tethered to the Holy Spirit – the most robust rope we could ever dream of having and one that will never fray or break (Psalms 146:5).

‘My anchor is Jesus Christ because He holds us up to the throne of grace’
First, in the scripture, the term Anchor is used to represent God and faith which keeps us steadfast and gives us hope during the trials and storms of life. My anchor is Jesus Christ, because He holds us up to the throne of grace. Jesus Christ keeps us anchored to the presence of God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 6:19 states: Lets us know that our hope is sure and steadfast as a well-placed, secure and unbending anchor. Our anchor is not located in the deepest sea, but in the Highest Heaven. Jesus Christ is my anchor, because He is the saviour of the world!

‘Jesus is my anchor, my hope in the midst of life’s storms’
Jesus is my anchor! He is my stability, strength, and hope in the midst of life’s storms. Just as an anchor holds a ship firmly in place, Jesus holds me secure, providing a sense of calm and peace (Mark 4:39). Hebrews 6:19; “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Jesus is the anchor that holds us fast, keeping us grounded and secure in the midst of life’s challenges. If you make Jesus your anchor, you won’t regret it.
