Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday, and it is a public holiday in most countries. It marks the beginning of the Easter liturgical season. Most people are familiar with the Biblical reasons we celebrate Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. But what about Easter Monday? What is the alternate name? ‘Bright Monday’
Another name for Easter Monday is “Bright Monday” or “Renewal Monday. It is the second day of Easter Octave. Easter Octave is eight days after Easter. Catholics celebrate Galilee Day on Easter Monday. Jesus told Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James that the apostles should meet him in Galilee (Mathew 28:10).

‘Renewal Monday’
Easter Monday can also be called Renewal Monday or Galilee day. It has a religious significance because it is the day, after Jesus Christ returned to earth. Catholics take this day serious because it commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

‘Monday within the Octave of Easter’
The other name for Easter Monday is Monday within the Octave of Easter. Easter Monday happens to be the day that Jesus told Mary Magdalene to tell His Apostles to meet Him in Galilee. Catholics do take Easter Monday seriously because Jesus instructed us to meet Him in Galilee, to see Him face to face after His resurrection, and it’s an assurance that there is resurrection after death.

‘Galilee Day’
Another name for Easter Monday is Galilee day. Galilee, is where we meet Jesus on Monday after Easter Sunday. The biblical significance; We can see in Matthew 28:7-9 it say’s “Go quickly now, and tell his disciples, He has been raised from death, and now He is going to Galilee ahead of you, there you will see him! Remember what I have told you. Easter Monday is taken seriously because it is the day we meet Jesus after his resurrection before he ascended into heaven.


Galilee Day’
Another name for Easter Monday is Galilee. It makes us to realise how much Jesus loves us and it also brings back the memory of how he resurrected, Catholics can never forget Galilee because during Galilee, we remember how Jesus ate with his disciples after his resurrection and, it brings back that memory of how He appeared to his disciples. May this Galilee bring back all these memories and make us better Christians through Christ our Lord Amen.

‘Renewal Monday’
The other name for Easter Monday is Bright Monday/Renewal Monday. The Biblical significance of Easter Monday is a Christian holiday; we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and fulfilling the request for us his followers to meet him at Galilee and assuring us of his faithfulness. Why Catholics take Easter Monday seriously is because it is the completion of the Holy Week that ends with the resurrection of Jesus. It is the beginning and foundation of Christianity. Jesus was raised from the dead, and it goes to show that he conquered sin and death.
