Luke 4:4 “And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 11:28 “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” These are two biblical phrases on the ‘Word of God.’ Christians are generally determined to obey the ‘Word of God’. The expression, ‘the Word of God’ has a number of connotations and it comes in various shapes – issues directives (commandments); gives strength; builds hope; saves; heals; educates as well as enhance faith; offers guidance, encouragement, hope, comfort and lots more. As Children of God, we must have a clear understanding of the ‘Word of God.’ BETTY AMUKPO presents few insights of the ‘Word of God’ by some children. Excerpts.
‘The Words of God come true’
“The ‘Word of God’ are the words that when it is said it will come true, the ‘Word of God’ are the words that are in the bible or spoken by God, example: If God said you will live, you will surely live.”

‘The Word of God’ is life; the Word of God is light’
I understand that the ‘Word of God’ is life; the Word of God is light. The Word of God is a weapon that is sharper than the Angel’s sword that pierces the heart to the soul. The Word of God is also a guideline to salvation, the Word of God has given us assurance. The Word of God is also called the Bible.

‘The bedrock of everything; the bread of life’
The ‘Word of God’ in my own understanding is the basic of all things we are going to do. It’s used as a weapon to fight the devil. It is the bread of life as mentioned in the Holy Bible that who so ever believed in His words will never die. To me, the ‘Word of God’ is the bed rock of everything we are doing. The ‘Word of God’ will make me to dwell in Him and to be conscious of the way l do things. He said through his words and keeping it, we would have ever lasting life Amen.

‘By the ‘Word of God’, things are made possible’
The ‘Word of God’ is a light unto my feet and food to my soul. By the ‘Word of God’ things that are impossible, by the ‘Word of God’ things came to existence and manifestation. By the ‘Word of God’ Samuel when he was a little child was able to find favour in the sight of God.

‘My salvation, my strength and my rock of ages’
The ‘Word of God’ is my salvation, my strength and my rock of ages that l should be reading and meditating at all time or day by day and I have nothing to be afraid of because He said His words and it becomes an Amen to those that believe in Him. His words cannot be changed nor added but remains everlasting to pull the mountain of the devil and his agents down.

‘Faith to carry on through trials and temptations’
I understand that: • God uses His word to speak to us through what we read in the bible. • I believe that where there’s no hope, the ‘Word of God’ gives us hope to carry on. • God’s Word gives us the faith to carry on through trials and tribulations. • God’s Word makes us strong to overcome the temptations of the devil. • God’s Word is fulfilled through Jesus Christ our Saviour.

‘God created life by words of His mouth’
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1). This verse of the Bible can be understood from the creation story in which God created life using the Words of His mouth. For example, He said “Let there be light” and there was light. The Word that was spoken was Jesus Christ our Saviour who is the Way, the Truth and the Life of all Christians.

‘The manifestation of God’s will’
The ‘Word of God’ is the manifestation of God’s will. God uses His Word to speak to us, through what is written in the Bible. The Bible which is the weapon of Christians is a collection of sacred books written by prophets of God who communicated with God and even had visions of the future. Since Christians are bound to carry their crosses, the ‘Word of God’ is our only support and consolation. The ‘Word of God’ gives us the strength we need to carry on.

‘With the Word of God, we will surely be triumphant’
“HEAVEN and EARTH will pass away, but my word will never pass away” (Mark 13:31) This statement was said by God and He makes us understand the reality of life which is the fact that as Christians, trials and tribulations shall surely be overcome by His Word. This verse also points to the fact that as individuals we are bound to face several problems but when we stand firm on the Word of God we will surely be triumphant. A perfect example that explains the points of this verse clearly is Prophet Simeon of the circumcision of Jesus Christ who didn’t die (though he wanted to) till he made eye contacts with the Messiah. No matter your situation in life God’s plan for you will be fulfilled as long as you BELIEVE.
