My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, as we journey through life and carry out the tasks entrusted to us, I call on everyone to perform their duties with meekness and humility of heart. Whatever responsibilities we hold— whether great or small—let us remember that they are gifts from God, not grounds for pride. The higher we are raised in life, the more we are called to bend low in service. True greatness is never about dominance or self-exaltation; it is about humble service rooted in love.
Scripture reminds us that “the affliction of the proud has no healing, for a plant of wickedness has taken root in them, though it will not be perceived.” Pride blinds the heart, hardens the spirit, and closes us off from God’s grace. It creeps silently, making one feel self-sufficient, but its fruit is bitterness and isolation. Let us guard our hearts carefully, lest arrogance take root unnoticed. On the other hand, humility opens the door to wisdom. “The mind of the wise man will ponder the words of the wise, and an attentive ear is the wise man’s desire.” The humble person listens, reflects, and learns.
They are not quick to boast but eager to grow. In their meekness, they find strength, and in their humility, they mirror Christ Himself, who, though He was Lord of all, chose the way of the Cross. I urge you, beloved in Christ, to cultivate humility in your homes, workplaces, and communities. Seek not recognition but faithfulness; not praise but service.
Let your words be gentle and your deeds marked by kindness. As you grow in stature and responsibility, strive even more to walk humbly with your God. May the Lord grant us hearts that are meek and humble, so that in serving one another, we may truly serve Him.
