…As Oba of Igbogbo worships at St. Monica Catholic Church

The Parish Priest of St. Monica Catholic Church, Igbogbo, Rev Fr. Gasper Olanrewaju has cleared the general misconception that it is almost impossible for the rich to make heaven. On the contrary, the cleric says the rich can also make the kingdom of God as long as they utilized their wealth to serve God faithfully and impact positively on lives. In his homily last Sunday drew from the biblical story of Lazarus and rich man, Fr. Olanrewaju stressed the need for all to live positively and use their God-given resources to uplift the poor and needy. According to him, God gives wealth to whom He wishes so that they can be a blessing to the poor. He warned that those who use their wealth selfishly like the rich man in the bible would one day lament in agony, while those who remain faithful to the admonitions of the gospel would enjoy eternal bliss. He, therefore, enjoined all Nigerians irrespective of their class, tribe, and religion to be generous and extend acts of charity to the less privileged in the society in other to put back smiles on the faces of the downtrodden, reminding them of the biblical injunctions, ‘Whatever you do the least of my brother, that you do unto me.”

Meanwhile, the Adeboruwa of the Igbogbo kingdom, His Majesty Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, was the cynosure of all eyes as he joined other worshippers to attend the early Morning Mass held at the parish. The Oba who was invited as a special guest, in the company of his retinue of aides, led hundreds of gaily dressed parishioners from the South West Region who danced to the altar in thanksgiving for this year’s Regional Harvest. Shortly after the Mass, a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, PPC, Mr. Ade Obisesan, on behalf of the parishioners, appealed to the traditional ruler to prevail on the state government to renovate the deplorable road leading to the parish. Responding to the appeal Oba Semiudeen Kasali, while expressing happiness at the opportunity of worshipping at the Church, affirmed his willingness to engage the relevant authorities in discussion to ensure the speedy renovation of the said road. He assured the people of God that he would continue to use his good office to promote love and peaceful coexistence amongst all people living in the Igbogbo kingdom and environs.
