There was once a meeting
in heaven and many
animals were invited
.The tortoise, though a
reptile wanted to accom-
pany them but have no wings to fly.
The birds decided to donate some of
their feathers to him. Afterwards,
the tortoise whose nickname was ‘all
of you’, looked very handsome in his
colourful feathers. They all set off to
attend the meeting in heaven.
During the meeting the tortoise
was outstanding he was made the
chairman of the occasion. He spoke
on how to solve the problems affect-
ing the birds, the problem of famine,
drought and so on.
At the end of the meeting refresh-
ment was served, the tortoise wanted
to know how many of them would
share the food. To this, they
were told that the food
belong to ‘all of you’’. At
this point, the tortoise
said since his nickname
was ‘all of you’, the food was
his to eat alone. So, he ate
the whole food without
giving anyone. The
other animals were
angry with him
and each of them
started taking
back their feath-
ers away from
him, without
thinking how
he would come
back home.
Left alone, he decided to climb down
from a very tall tree. Unfortunately,
he lost his grip and fell down, hitting
his back on a rock. This is why
till date
the
tortoise back looks patched.
