Pineapple is a delicious tropical fruit, especially when it is ripe. All the parts of pineapple are nutritious including the peel. Most people throw away pineapple peel, thinking they are useless. However, it has been proven that pineapple peel is very useful due to its medicinal advantage. It can be eaten raw, boiled, or soaked in water. Nutrients and minerals can be found in pineapple, such as vitamin C, fiber, manganese, potassium and the enzyme bromelain.

 Health benefits of Pineapple peel

  1. Improves Sleep

It contains magnesium, which regulates blood pressure, nerve and muscle function and helps you feel relaxed.

  • Fights Arthritis

Its anti-inflammatory compound, called bromelain, has the ability to fight and reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (swollen joints) by reducing swelling.

  • Enhances Libido

Drinking juice made from pineapple peel can increase libido. A natural way to restore the sexual groove without complications.

  • Reduces Catarrh and Cough

Pineapple contains high concentrations of anti-inflammatory compounds that can help treat coughs and catarrhs. It helps by lowering the mucous that is obstructing your airways and relaxing the inflammation in your airways.

  • Protects Vision

The peel includes beta-carotene and vitamin C which helps fight degenerative eye diseases such as glaucoma.

  • Boosts Immune System

The high levels of vitamin C in pineapple and its peel prevent and fight infections. Bromelain and vitamin C act as a bacteria fighter, mucus cutter, cough suppressant, wound healer, and overall system booster in the body.

  • Strengthens Bone and Teeth

Pineapple peel is rich in manganese. Manganese contributes to the growth, strengthening and repair of bones and teeth. Vitamin C and astringent properties keep gums clean and healthy.

  • Filters Your Blood

It also helps prevent blood clots from forming and helps form healthy blood cells. Potassium contained in the peel maintains the osmotic balance of the blood and evens out the flow in the blood vessels.

How to boil pineapple peel for consumption: Wash the pineapple and separate the pulp from the peel. Pour enough water into your pot and put the pineapple peel with some small pieces of pineapple pulp and allow it to boil to your satisfaction. After boiling, allow it to simmer and cool down. Thereafter, add a glass of water in it then filter the mixture, taking only the liquid part for consumption.
