St. Gregory’s College is known for her outstanding academic excellence. The College has maintained this stance over the years in the state, national and international competitions. Among these include Peace Pals International Art Exhibition and Awards 2021, where our student, Master Joe Osodi of JSS3 emerged the first place winner and the first African to achieve this feat. Also, in the 2021 edition of the JETS Competition, Master Akhere Emmanuel, a JSS3 student took first position in the state and zonal levels and also clinched the first position at the national level. Not resting on her oars, the College has continued to excel academically. She took first position in the 2022 JETS competition: Senior and Junior categories at the state and the zonal levels. Similarly, Master Ndulue Paul Jaricot, an SSS2 student emerged among the top three to represent Lagos State in the National Institute of Physics Competition for Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria. Now, to the Glory of God, our College has won again. Agha Favour, Afolabi Feranmi, Ayanola Olamide, Opara Donald and Nzenwa Francis represented St. Gregory’s College in the Augustine University maiden edition of the Annual Augustine University Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools, held on the 25th of January, 2023. Ten schools attended the competition and out of which St. Gregory’s College took the first position.
The ten schools that participated in the competition are: St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, Sacred Heart College, Ijebu Ode, Holy Child College, Ikoyi, Louisville Girls’ High School, Ijebu Itele, Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, Epe, St. Joseph Catholic School, St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Christ the King Collge, Ijebu-Ode, St. Anthony Grammar School, Ijebu Imushin, and Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba. After the first and second rounds comprising General Knowledge: Mathematics/ English Language and Science/ Commercial respectively, three schools: St Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, Sacred Heart College, Ijebu-Ode and Louisville Girls’ High School, Ijebu Itele came out tops with a tie between St. Gregory’s College and Sacred Heart College, Ijebu-Ode. While Sacred Heart College, Ijebu-Ode was unable to answer all the questions asked in Biology and Chemistry to break the tie, St Gregory’s College answered all the questions correctly. This exceptional performance displayed by our students made the College to emerge the overall Best School in the competition.
