St. Gregory’s College PTA held an election on June 3, 2022 after the last executive which came on board 2018. In his end of tenure address, the outgoing Chairman Mr. Augustin Achugwo enumerated its modest achievements in support of the administration, staff and students of St. Gregory’s College. In his speech, he said, it is a testament of the purposeful synergy that existed between the College Management and the P.T.A. Exco for the overall progress of the College. He said: “The uncertainties that characterized our second tenure, i.e. the COVID-19 pandemic, made us put in abeyance any new infrastructural development. However, the projects we accomplished in our first tenure, which included remodeling and equipping of the College Clinic, construction and equipping of ultra-modern Hostel Extension project; as well as revamping of the Tuck Shop.
We also mooted the need for a Marian Grotto in the college, which idea the College liked and executed the project themselves. We are grateful to the College Administrator, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ayeni for putting up the beautiful Marian Grotto in the College premises. “Our welfare accomplishments include introduction, enhancement and sustenance of Teachers’ Day package for our teachers, enhancement of the Christmas Gift package to staff and college community; honouring of staff invitations to weddings, introduction and sustenance of Orientation and Parenting Course for parents of newly admitted students, introduction of departure gifts for graduating SSS3 students and their parents at their Valedictory Service, introduction and sustenance of scholarship award for SSS3 students who make 9As in their SSSCE results, introduction and sustenance of awards to three best graduating students in SSSCE in Science, Art and Commercial departments, sustenance of PTA awards to best students in English Language and Mathematics in both junior and senior secondary levels during Speech and Prize Giving events, introduction of Code of Conduct for Parents of students in the College.
On St. Gregory’s College PTA Scholarship Scheme, he said: “The need to care for one another as one family of St. Gregory’s College informed the decision of our administration to bring about the St. Gregory’s College PTA Scholarship Scheme aimed at ensuring that no bona fide student of the College withdraws from the College on the unfortunate event of the loss of his parents/guardians who are sponsors of his education in the College. We are grateful to you great parents and teachers of the College for approving the Scheme as a corporate social responsibility (CSR). The new PTA executives who were elected are Mr. Omoera Victor, Chairman; Mrs. Ibemere, Deputy Chairman; Mr. Joy Okuhu, Treasurer; Mrs. Chibuko, Welfare Officer; Mr. Seyi Martins, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Mr. Chukwuemeka Awachie, Internal Auditor and Mrs. Taiwo Ogunleye, Legal Adviser.
