Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Engr. Valentine Braimoh has commended Catholic groups in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, for their efforts in assisting the Government to create awareness of the dangers of human trafficking and child abuse in the society. The group, led by Rev. Sr. Justina Nelson, RSC coordinator of Anti Human Trafficking, Religious Sisters of Charity, which consist of JDPC of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac Town; St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kirikiri; St. Stephen Catholic Church, Agboju, RAWTWAYI, among others, converged on St. Stephen Catholic Church, from where they commenced on a road walk through First Gate, to the Over-Head Bridge, as they proceeded to Amuwo Odofin Local Government Secretariat. They were received by Mrs. Folami, Head of the Department of Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, on behalf of Engr. Valentine Braimoh, Executive Chairman Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, According to Mrs. Folami, the Chairman, and indeed the entire government of Amuwo-Odofin appreciated the group’s efforts in assisting the government in being the voice of the voiceless. Folami said: ‘’By this walk today, many have been touched and they will continue to receive more reports about child abuses and trafficking cases, especially children from Benin Republic and within Nigeria” The group had the road walk, to mark the International Day of Human Trafficking Awareness in Lagos.
