SIGNIS Nigeria, the Catholic Association for Communication, has scheduled its 4th Delegates Assembly to hold from Wednesday, September 3, to Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Daughters of Divine Love Retreat and Conference Centre (DRACC), Lugbe, Abuja. Themed “Communicating Hope and Change – Catholic Media Role in Shaping Nigeria’s Future,” the three-day assembly will bring together Catholic communicators from across the country to reflect on the mission of the Church in the contemporary communication space and to chart new directions for the future of Catholic communication in Nigeria.
The programme begins on Wednesday, September 3, with the arrival and registration of delegates, followed by an executive council meeting. On Thursday, September 4, activities will commence with the Opening Mass, after which the official opening ceremony will be held. In his welcome address, the President of SIGNIS Nigeria, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Patrick Alumuku, is expected to appreciate members for their unwavering support and call for renewed commitment to the mission of SIGNIS in Nigeria.

Goodwill messages will be delivered by Mrs. Helen Osman, President of SIGNIS World; Very Rev. (Prof.) Walter Ihejirika, President of SIGNIS Africa; Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Michael Umoh, National Director of Communication; Very Rev. (Dr.) Michael Banjo, Secretary-General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria; and Most Rev. (Dr.) David Ajang, CBCN Episcopal Chairman on Communication.
The opening ceremony will also feature two keynote papers to set the tone for discussions at the assembly. Delegates will later embark on an excursion to notable sites in Abuja before reconvening for plenary sessions. During the assembly, the National Executive Council will present its reports, which will be discussed alongside plans and decisions for the coming year. The current council will then be formally dissolved to pave the way for the election and inauguration of new national officers. A gala night will crown the day’s activities. The event will conclude on Friday, September 5, with a thanksgiving Mass.
Fr. Alumuku urged all delegates of SIGNIS Nigeria to participate fully in the assembly, stressing the need for unity of purpose. He said, “This assembly provides us the opportunity to renew our commitment to the mission of SIGNIS Nigeria as we continue to harness the power of communication in shaping a hopeful and transformative future for our nation.”
