The Institute of the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus on Tuesday 18th of May, 2021 laid to rest the mortal remains of Sr.Mary Edith Abebe, EHJ at the Institute’s cemetery in Ibonwon- Epe,Lagos State. Sr.Edith was aged 54 and untill her death in Illela Sokoto on April 29, 2021 was the Principal of St.Patrick’s Secondary School Illela in Sokoto Diocese. A woman of great faith, undaunted and calm spirit, peaceful and simple, gentle and firm, cool and humble. These qualities Sr.Edith exhibited in her relationship with people and in her apostolates at different times as a seasoned school administrator where she made huge landmark of positive and impactful change in her short but fulfilled life on earth. The Funeral Mass which was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Ibonwon was officiated by the Chief Shepherd of Lagos Archdiocese, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Martins. Also in attendance was the Bishop of Ijebu Ode Diocese, Rt. Rev. (Dr.) Francis Adesina with a host of priests from the Archdiocese of Lagos and Ibadan, diocese of Sokoto, Ijebu Ode and Ondo, Superior Generals of other religious institutes, family members and friends of Sr. Edith and a good number of Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus with the Superior General of the Institute, Rev. Sr. M.Agatha Osarenkhoe,EHJ. Gone from our Sights but Never from our Hearts as we bid Farewell to Sr. Edith. May her soul find eternal rest and reward in the Kingdom of God.
