Catholic scholar, Professor Michael Ogunu, has called on the faithful to deepen their devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ throughout July, emphasising that this devotion is essential for all members of the Church. In his recent reflection, the President and Coordinator of the World Apostolate of Fatima in Africa highlighted the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as the highest form of honour to the Precious Blood, describing it as the renewal of Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary. “By actively participating in the Eucharistic Sacrifice and offering it in union with the priest, we join in the offering of the Precious Blood inaugurated on Mount Calvary,” he said. He noted that receiving Holy Communion is intimately connected to this devotion, as it consummates the Sacrifice, seals God’s covenant with His children, and nourishes the soul with Christ’s Body and Blood.

Prof. Ogunu further encouraged Eucharistic adoration, urging Catholics to visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently to adore Christ truly present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. He also outlined the importance of prayer in honouring the Precious Blood, recommending approved prayers such as the Litany of the Precious Blood, the Chaplet of the Precious Blood, and the “Seven Offerings of the Precious Blood.”
According to him, meditation on the mysteries of Christ’s Bloodshed, particularly the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, fosters a deeper understanding of Jesus’ mercy, humility, and love for sinners. Quoting Pope St. John XXIII, Prof. Ogunu reminded the faithful that devotion to the Precious Blood is for all, regardless of nation or status. “We have all been redeemed by it; we must apply its fruits to our souls if we wish to inherit the kingdom of Christ in heaven,” he concluded.
