The aura of Ss. Mulumba and David Catholic Community was flaming with the fire of the Holy Spirit last Sunday, when the parish joined other Catholics to celebrate the feast of Pentecost in grand style. The Eucharistic observance that kick started the ceremony was a beautiful sight to behold, as the procession witnessed parishioners, adorned in glamorous cultural attires, even as they showcased different ethnic groups in the country. Speaking at the Mass, Rev. Fr. Andrew Edogbo, CSSp, the Parish Priest, thanked God for the gift of the Holy Spirit and parishioners who are dedicated to the Holy Spirit and have been supportive of their priests.

Fr. Edogbo prayed for the Holy Ghost Congregation and the Superiors, asking God to continue to empower them with wisdom to do the work assigned to them so that the group will continue to expand and increase in strength. He urged the people to take their spirituality seriously and stop putting worldly things above activities held in the Church. The Priest asked Christians to stay put with God and stop seeking help in evil places. According to him, “Some Christians start well and end badly because at some point in their life, they relegate God and church to the background, putting worldly things first.”
Fr. Edogbo urged Christians not to conform to the ways of the world, as he said that the present society is enmeshed in evils, including same sex marriage and indecent dressing, among others. On the dressing of present-day Christians, as opposed to the past, Fr. Edogbo advised the people to ensure they uphold decency in their appearance at every point in time. Speaking on spiritual revival, the Priest urged the people to be re-enkindled with the fire of the Holy Spirit, and zeal for mission in positions they are called to, adding that the gifts of the Holy Spirit is seen in the fruits that we bear. Highlights of the event included, dancing competition and recitation of prayers of the Church by the children, as the winners went away with cash gifts.
