There have been divergent

views on whether contin-
uous detention of Sowore

over Revolutionnow Is

justifiable or condemnable. His law-
yer, Barrister Femi Falana, a notable

human rights lawyer and senior ad-
vocate of Nigeria has been calling for

his unconditional release. Also, Bar-
rister Ubani Monday Onyekachi, a

consummate political analyst and hu-
man rights lawyer had described the

continuous detention of both Sowore

Omoleye and Agba Jalingo without
being charged to court as illegal.
I believe Sowore shot himself on
the foot as a result of poor planning.
Some are accusing him of being a
clog in the wheel of the desire for
a consensus youth president in the
last election for refusing to step
down for Fela Durotoye.
In one of my meetings with Charles
Emeka Oputa (Charley Boy), he
averred that Nigerian youth need to
form a united national front under
one umbrella with a consensus to
support a particular candidate for

the presidency. I believe this is the
way to go as move to strengthen our
democracy. I hope that Sowore will
be fairly treated in the court of law
as his trial continues.
The arrest and detention of Agba

Jalingo, some say, is meant to tar-
nish the image of the Cross River

state government. I see it as an at-
tack on the press, his fundamental

human rights, attack on freedom of
association and attack to freedom
of speech for good governance He
should be release accordingly.
