Professor of strategic management and corporate governance expert, Prof. (Sir) Chris Ogbechie is expected to be the Guest Speaker at the 16th edition of Anthony Cardinal Okogie Foundation Annual Lecture, scheduled to hold at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Chris Ogbechie is the Dean of Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. According to the organisers, the visiting professor at Strathmore Business School, Nairobi, Kenya will be speaking on the theme entitled, “The ‘Japa’ Phenomenon: Implications for National Development and the Christian Faith.”

Professor Ogbechie has a firstclass honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK. He is the dean of Lagos Business School where he has responsibility for setting the strategic direction for the School, as well as overseeing all academic and administrative matters. He has vast experience in marketing, strategy and corporate governance derived from his work as Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria and his consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms over the years.

While in Nestle, he held international positions in Malaysia, Singapore and Switzerland. Professor Ogbechie teaches strategy, sustainability and corporate governance at the Lagos Business School and Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, Kenya; he is also the founding Director of the School’s Sustainability Centre. He has several publications in financial services marketing, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance. The 16th edition of the Anthony Cardinal Okogie Foundation Annual Lecture is being organised by the Catholic Confraternity of Christian Fathers (CCCF) and Confraternity of Christian Mothers (LACCM), Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos in conjunction with the Directorate of Lay Apostolate, Archdiocese of Lagos.
The lecture is an annual event set out to sustain awareness of the Gospel values through a critical look at the realities that surround Nigeria as a nation and their contributions to these realities. It also aims at immortalising the person and legacy of His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, Archbishop Emeritus of Lagos, whose voice in the Nigerian socio political milieu is quite familiar and formidable Annually, the occasion serves as an avenue to raise funds for the activities of the foundation, which is geared towards educating indigent students.
