Sporting Supreme of Abuja and Sokoto Utd FC have booked their places in this year’s Nigeria National League Super 8. Both teams confirmed their qualifications for the Super 8 following the completion of the second stanza of Conference D in the most important league in the country. According to the final league table of Conference D released by the NNL, Sokoto Utd led the Conference with 23 points after 12 matches, followed closely by Sporting Supreme with 22 points.

The table also shows that Adamawa Utd came third with 15 points, followed by Kebbi Utd that had 14 points. Both Mailantarki and Jigawa had 14 points each with Kebbi but the later escaped the drop because of superior goal aggregate. Results of Match Day 14 of Conference D indicates that City FC played a 2-2 draw with Sokoto Utd, Sporting Supreme defeated Kebbi Utd 2-1 while Mailantarki recorded a 2-1 victory over Jigawa Golden Stars.

Meanwhile, Chairman of NNL, Mr. George Aluo has expressed happiness over the successful conclusion of Conferences D of the league just as he expressed hope that other conferences of the league will also end successfully. ” I’m happy with the successful completion of Conference D of the league and am looking forward to successful conclusion of other conferences. ” After the conclusion of all the Conferences, we’ll then shift focus to organising the best Super 8 and I promise Nigerians that at the end of the Super 8 which comes up later in the year, the best champion of the NNL will emerge and teams that will gain promotion to the NPFL will also emerge,” he stressed.
