The 2023 Nigeria National League transfer window will start from Monday 17th April,with all the clubs expected to complete deals on singing of new players to join their fold. The window which will mark the end of first stanza of the 2022/2023 season will be closed on Tuesday 25th April when clubs can buy,sell or loan out players . During the one week window break ,clubs who are yet to complete the allowed 35 players per season as provided in the NNL rule book are free to add only five(5) new players before the resumption of the second stanza . The NNL has programmed that the super abridged league style will come to an end on the 20th of May ,2023. NNL first stanza matches will be concluded this weekend starting from Friday 14- Monday17 April,2023. Meanwhile, the league body has given approval Approval that Hypebuzz FC, Abuja can now use the newly built Bwari Mini Stadium as home ground for its matches. This is following the successful installation of perimeter fence and media facilities. The stadium built by the FCT football Association is one of the millennium Development Goals Project ,has a pavilion capacity to seat over 3,000 fans. It is situated in the Heart of Bwari town in the FCT Council Area. It has a hybrid astro-turf . The Bwari Mini – Stadium,hosted it’s first official game on Friday ,with the NNL match day four tie involving Hypebuzz and EFCC,which ended two nil in favour of the home side
CGN plans big for grassroots sports
The Commonwealth Games Nigeria (CGN) plans to organise a Community Grassroots Sports programme for secondary schools in the Amuwo Odofin Area of Lagos on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. The event has been scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Grounds, ”Olympafrica Centre”, Olympic Village, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. The objective of the programme is to provide an opportunity for the students in the Amuwo Odofin area on the importance of Sports and Education to youth development. It will also promote social interaction among the students, which will avail them the opportunity to meet other school students and engage in healthy competition. A Statement signed by Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of the NOC noted that they will also know more about the activities carried out by Commonwealth Games’ Nigeria. CGN will award prizes to the three best students from each sport of the three sports to feature — Volleyball, Netball and Cultural Dance. All participating students will receive certificates of participation. The participating schools are expected to dress in their cultural dance attires. The event promises to be vibrant as well as an entertaining experience, offering a unique opportunity to discover the variety and values of our rich multi-cultural heritage. Not less than 12 Schools in the Amuwo Odofin area will participate in the programme with 6 students and a Games’ Master each from participating schools. The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, supported by the Secretary-General, Mr Babatunde Popoola will declare the event open.

Nigerian born, British heavyweight Anthony Joshua says he is “definitely going to be fighting in the next three months” following his win over Jermaine Franklin on Saturday. Joshua claimed his first win in more than two years having lost consecutive bouts to WBA (Super), IBF and WBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk. He told the BBC’s One Show he does not know who his next opponent will be, but he wants to “get the ball rolling”. “It was nine months since I was last in the ring [before Franklin],” he said. “I don’t want to leave it that long again. I want to be back there in next three months.”
