In a heartfelt ceremony during the NFF Annual General Assembly 2024 held in Asaba, the leadership of the Nigeria National League (NNL) presented a special award to NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, recognizing his significant contributions and exemplary policies over the past two years. The event was marked by a gathering of football stakeholders, showcasing the unity and progress within Nigerian football. NNL Chairman Mr. George Aluo, flanked by Vice Chairman Hon. Khamisu Mailantarki and Dr. Ayo Ab- dulrahaman, the NNL COO, took to the stage to deliver a speech that highlighted Gusau’s commitment to the growth of the sport.

“As we gather here today, we reflect on the transformative journey that Nigerian football has undertaken under the leadership of Alhaji Gusau,” Aluo said. “His administration has not only prioritized the development of football at all levels but has also implemented policies that have revitalized the game in our nation.” Gusau, visibly moved by the recognition, accepted the award with humility. “This honor is not just for me but for everyone involved in the beautiful game of football in Nigeria. It reflects our collective efforts to build a brighter future for our sport,” he stated.

Under Gusau’s leadership, the NFF has seen numerous initiatives aimed at improving grassroots football, enhancing player development, and promoting competitive integrity. His approach has been characterized by transparency and collaboration, fostering stronger relationships between the various leagues and football associations. As the assembly concluded, there was a palpable sense of optimism among the attendees about the future of Nigerian football. With continued support and visionary leadership, many believe that the country is on the brink of achieving greater heights in the sport.
