It is a Welcome Development
The partial relaxation of the lockdown is a welcome development. 75% of the lives of the populace depend on daily income. Partial relaxation of the lockdown has brought back smiles on their faces again. Secondly, there is also improvement in the awareness among the people. You can see everybody on the street wearing mask. Bus drivers will not allow any passenger without face mask to enter their buses. Another good thing is the provision of water and detergent for washing hands at the bus stops The government will also need to enforce compliance within the market and other places of work. Thanks Uche Alex Okeke, CWONLA Coordinator, FESTAC Deanery The Relaxation of the Lockdown was too Early The partial relaxation of the lockdown due to COVID-19, to me was too early. I am sure it was due to pressure on the government from security reports. People were very apprehensive of this unseen enemy. Traders were not sure of what would become of their goods; mechanics were also not sure of customers’ cars in their custody. Businesses were shutdown and not much of enlightenment and palliatives circulating. There would have been a civil disobedience. However, following the relaxation of the lockdown, tension has reduced in the land, I pray without undue consequences because people are not really obeying the guidelines such as use of the face masks and social distancing. I pray for God’s intervention not to allow us go through the experience of countries that relaxed the lockdown very early like Ghana, Germany etc. Charles Onuoha (HOD Medicine, Randle General Hospital)
It is Like a Time Bomb
The partial relaxation is like a time bomb. We are happy because it has helped prevent hunger, but the
Lagosians are not complying with Guidelines
My take is that people are not adhering to government guidelines. Social distancing is almost nonexistent at entrances to banking halls and ATM galleries. Most passengers make use of face masks in buses but the rule on sitting arrangements is not taken seriously especially during rush hours. People are still able to make inter-state travels. For instance, my security guard’s brother just came into Lagos from Niger Republic. -Ikenna Ntiama (FOREX Trader) We Don’t Want Another Lockdown It is unfortunate that people are not observing government’s directives regarding social distancing and effective use of face masks. That notwithstanding, another lockdown should not be imposed so as to allow people to work and earn their daily income. This is more so since Government is not giving money to people, neither are they sharing palliatives as they promised. -Alex Onyemekeihia (Electrical Engineer)
Relaxation of the Lockdown
Not Timely I think the partial relaxation of the lockdown was wrongly timed due to pressure from the people on their welfare. If the government had given adequate palliatives to the people, the lockdown wouldn’t have been relaxed in a hurry. Most people are not even keeping to the safety rules as they move around. I pray the relaxation does not take us back to another lockdown. -Dave Nwanze (Business Executive)

Total Lockdown
May be Inevitable I believe it is good that the lockdown had partially been lifted. The only problem is that people are not using the facemasks properly. The lockdown affected me badly as I had to remain indoors earning nothing and there were no palliatives from government. If the people continue to shun government health directives, then another total lockdown may become necessary in order to help reduce or stop the spread of the deadly virus. -Mrs Clementina Etim (Petty Trader) 12 www.catholicherald.org.ng T
