Pope Francis on January 6, 2020,
announced the appointment of
Bishop Matthew Ishaya Audu
of Lafia Diocese as the Catholic Archbishop of Jos and Metropolitan See of
Jos Ecclesiastical Province.
He will succeed Archbishop Ignatius
Kaigama who is now the Archbishop
of Abuja. His canonical installation in
Jos will take place on March 31, 2020,
same date he was installed as the pioneer Bishop of Lafia Diocese in 2001.
He was born on June 7, 1959 and
was ordained a Catholic priest on June
23, 1984, 35 years ago.
Bishop Audu holds a doctorate degree in Moral Theology. Before becoming a bishop, he worked briefly
as an assistant parish priest between
1984 and 1988 before becoming a
lecturer ND Vice Rector at St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi
between 1997 and 2000.
