The Rivers State Government has thrown its weight behind Engineer Musa Kida who is seeking to return as president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF). The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports, Sir Honour Sirawoo made this known when DA-F Basketball Program hosted the victorious 3×3 Champions at the National Youth games in Ilorin. According to Sir Honour Sirawoo “Rivers State Government and Rivers State Basketball has benefited from Musa Kida’s support, he is not tired, so why must we be tired of having him there?” Sirawoo asked. On his part, Coach Fubara Onyanabo of the DA-F Basketball Program who led and guided the kids to the 3×3 Champions stated that he doesn’t follow blindly. “I don’t follow blindly, his achievements are there and they speak for themselves,” “You heard what the permanent secretary said, Rivers State entirely is throwing the weight behind Musa Kida.” The event witnessed award ceremonies to basketball enthusiasts who have contributed immensely to the growth of the game in the state. Those honored include Engr. Ahmed Musa Kida, China Acheru, Coach Laami Johnson, and Bodiseowei Desmond.

Iganmu FC visits, gifts food items to Chosen Child Orphanage

Ahead of preparations for the new Nigerian football season, Lagos based Nationwide league side Iganmu FC, took time off its intensed training programmes to visit Chosen Child Orphanage and Care Centre, Sari-Iganmu, Lagos. The management and players of the high-riding Iganmu FC led by its President Abayomi Egbayelo, donated food items like bags of rice, noodles, spices, salt and vegetable oil to the orphanage. Speaking with journalists at the emotional event, Egbayelo said the visit was one of the several programmes lined up by him to give back to the soceity and also support the needy and less privileged members in his community. ” I’m passionate about the welfare of the needy and disadvantaged members of the society. I remember my childhood days, while growing up in this Sari-Iganmu community and I’m therefore compelled to return to this community and show love and support to my people,” he stated. Japan based Egbayelo, who holds a doctorate degree in Sports Medicine, also disclose plans by his management to donate five percent from the total revenue accrued from the ongoing sales of Iganmu FC jerseys and merchandise to the orphanage. Reaching to visit, the obviously delighted founder of the orphanage, Mrs. Ayuba, was effusive in praises and prayers for the management and players of the team. While thanking the visitors, she described the donations as timely. She went on to admonish other well placed individuals and corporate bodies to emulate such kind gestures and help to make life for the helpless and needy kids in the society, more comfortable.
