Plans are in top gear to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nazareth school Festac, as the school management rolls out activity it has lined up to mark the landmark three-day event, slated for October 26-28, 2023. The programme to mark the anniversary was disclosed in a press release made available to Catholic Herald weekly by the Anniversary Committee. According to the release, there would be a special unveiling ceremony at the AGM, slated for August 19, 2023 to kick start the event. Speaking on the event, Mr. Basil Onwubiko, Chairman, Nazareth School 40th Anniversary Committee, expressed delight and confidence that the school deserves the best at this point in time because it has produced people who occupy enviable positions in Nigeria and diaspora.
He said Nazareth school is an embodiment of knowledge and needs to be celebrated at 40. According to him, “Several activities have been lined up on that day to ensure a smooth take-off of Nazareth at 40. The parents will be officially informed; the Nazareth at 40 Ankara will be unveiled, likewise stickers, banners and other items to be used to showcase the event.” For her part, Rev. Sr. Irene Chigbue, the school supervisor disclosed that to celebrate Nazareth at 40, the school is setting up an Endowment Fund to sustain the education of children from poor homes, as well as special projects. She added that the school would do its utmost to ensure that no child who comes to Nazareth is denied quality education on account of financial limitations.
According to her, “Children are innocent of their parent’s inadequacies.” The Reverend Sister assured that Nazareth School will never lower the standard of curriculum, learning environment or quality of staff, adding that partnership and support is needed for setting the endowment fund, to aid homes that are mostly affected by increasingly financial challenges. Nazareth school Festac is one of the foremost pre-primary and primary school in Festac Town and indeed Lagos State, established by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos and managed by the Religious Sisters of Charity to provide qualitative foundational education for our cherished children, irrespective of their economic, cultural or religious backgrounds. Nazareth School Festac has produced excellent children both from rich and poor background.
