The founder of Man of Order
and Discipline a paramil-
itary outfit of the Catholic
Church in Nigeria has been
described as a blessing to the church
and humanity.
The patron of MOD Lekki Zonal
Command, MOD Lt. Col. Dr. Mk-
george Onyung described him as
a great man, Philosophist, linguist,
Evangelist and Psychologist.
He said this during the Man of Or-
der and Discipline Movement (MOD)
2020 Founder’s day also known as
Achebe Day.
The event which was hosted by Zone
12 Lekki Command of the movement
started with the Holy mass with Rev.
Fr. Dominic Onuoha, the Parish Priest
of Ave Maria Catholic Church as the
chief celebrant.
“He was indeed a great man and I
wonder why such good people live
a short life. He would have been 77
years old today if he was still alive.
I have read about him and I’m very
proud to be part of this movement.”
The retired Nigerian Army Col de-
scribed the movement as an extension
of life. “Since joining the Church, I
have seen that there is no institution
that is well organized as the Catho-
lic Church and I feel that joining the
Man of Order and Discipline will also
afford me the opportunity to learn
how to be orderly and also to impact
order in my little way to ensure that
the Catholic Church remains a formi-
dable institution.”
He advised parishes where MOD
was yet to be established to do so. “As I
have noticed, the Pope is not guarded
by Italian police and I have also seen
that from the days of Cardinal Oko-
gie, his Eminence was not guarded by
Nigerian police. MOD has come to
stay to protect the Catholic Church
in terms of securing the priests, the
Eucharist and the Church.”
The Surulere Zonal Chairman and
Chairman of the 2020 Founder’s day
Celebration, Major Engr. C. Manafa
discribed Achebe Day as an annual
MOD event to celebrate the Founder
of the movement, Late Msgr. Patrick
Oke Achebe of great memory.
