Mickybliss Guidance and Counseling Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, has donated school bags and other educational materials to school age children in Ojodu, Lagos, as a way of supporting the young ones from indigent backgrounds. The foundation, which started last year, has held three other outreach programmes to assist children in going back to school with the essential educational resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Ngozi Ezeuzoekwe, Founder, MickyBliss Guidance and Counseling Initiative, said the donation was a significant step forward in the organisation’s mission to uplift, support and empower the next generation, through the transformative power of education. According to Ezeuzoekwe, “At our foundation, we firmly believe that education is not merely a privilege, but a fundamental right that belongs to every child. It is the key that unlocks the doors to a brighter future, a more vibrant community, and a prosperous society.
With this belief, we have organised this Back-toSchool event to support 36 children in returning to school with the necessary tools and resources to thrive.” She stated that most of the beneficiaries are from indigent families where some of the mothers are widows or single parents who need assistance, adding that the event is also about rekindling hope, nurturing dreams, and empowering the potential within each child. “These 36 children are our future doctors, teachers, leaders, and innovators. By supporting them today, we are investing in a brighter future for us all,” she added.
Charging the children to embrace education, and embrace the journey with an open mind and a courageous heart, the founder informed them that it is a journey that will challenge, teach, and help them to grow. Mrs. Chiamaka Bartholomew, Board Member of the foundation, charged the children to be determined and focused on their studies, asking them to be disciplined, manage their time judiciously and create a daily routine to build up themselves.
She assured them that with a positive attitude, they would overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Philip Peter, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the foundation for providing the school materials, as he prayed for God’s blessing on the group. He added that the school bag, especially came at an important time and it is going to be very useful for him.
