Children are young and beautiful creatures; and with their innocent smiles and carefree spirits, they steal the hearts of many. Little wonder there is a day set aside to celebrate them. Children’s Day, is dedicated to celebrating children all over the world, and for adults to remember their childhood experiences. The St. Augustine Catholic church Ikorodu Children’s Day was celebrated in a grand style, started with Mass by Rev. Fr. Livinus Orakwe, the Parish Priest. During the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic Mass, he blessed all the children and admonished them to be obedient to their parents and take education as their priority for them to be successful. Investitures of Patrons and Patronesses took place during the mass. After the Holy Eucharistic Mass, children assembled at the church compound to celebrate their special day – Children’s Day. It was a joyous occasion where they exhibited their different talents and entertained the guests and their parents through Cultural dance, sack race, drama, march pass etc. At the end of the day St. Augustine came first, St. Anthony Mary Claret came second while St. John took third position in the march pass.

MCA is unique to the organization that assist children in that its primary aim is to encourage children to share their faith with other children in the developing world through their prayers, personal sacrifices and financial offerings. A special message was delivered by both the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Pius Nwite and the Coordinator MCA Ikorodu Deanery, Rev. Sis. Justine O. Egbedike. They urged the children to work hard on their studies as education is said to hold brighter future for them. Food and drinks, and a jam session by the children marked the end of an unforgettable day. The Event was witnessed by some dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Ubi Terseer, Mr. Ogbuagbaka, Mrs. Awana, Mrs. Veronica Nwite, Mr. Emmanuel Nwugo (God is able), Sir (Engr.) George Eimunjeze and the CWO led by their President, Mrs. F. Nnamani and parishioners.
