Being a legionary

By Victoria Okwudinka

The Legion of Mary is a society that is made to honour our mother Mary and evangelize the gospel. I joined the legion because I saw their mode of prayer and their ways of teaching. When I joined the legion I had wonderful experiences like going for home visitation, hospital visitation etc. It was amazing, you can also save a soul. Being a legionary is the most wonderful thing because in the legion of Mary, we pray the Rosary and say the catena because there are blessings attached to praying the Rosary.

The legion is a place where children, teenagers and adults learn about Jesus and mother Mary. Being a legionary has helped me to be more prayerful and it has also attached me to praying the rosary. I am greatly inspired by Frank Duff and the efforts he made to spread the word to the people to enable them become legionaries. So I am inviting you all to join the legion to know and learn about Jesus and our mother Mary.

My life as a Lector

By Faustina Eziashi

Being a lector has been my childhood dream as a little girl anytime I attend the Mass, I admire the lectors and so it became my dream to become one of them, and that dream was fulfilled on the day l received my first holy communion, l sang the responsorial psalm and after then I joined the parish board of lectors. Being a lector is my own little way of evangelising as a Catholic, being a lector has also helped me to be self-confident and it has also developed my interest in the Bible.

It has also given me the privilege to stand on the sanctuary to proclaim the word of God. There are a lot of blessings coming from the work of God, when I was in need he sent destiny helpers to me. It has also helped me to be cautious in the things I do. Above all it has brought me closer to God, so come friends, you too can have these things and even more by being a lector. Thank you.

Why do Catholics pray the Rosary

By Pamela Nwagbo

The Rosary is a strong weapon given to Catholics. The Rosary is also a remedy against severe trials, temptation and hardship of life. It also tells us how Mother Mary and her son Jesus spent their lives on earth. Catholics pray the rosary to honour Mother Mary and adore her son our Lord Jesus Christ.

Example is the joyful mystery (Mondays and Saturdays) Annunciation you can find it in (Luke 1:26-38) Visitation (Luke 1:39-45 The finding of our Lord Jesus Christ in the temple (Luke 2:41-52) So, some of the reasons Catholics pray the rosary are to: – Fight daily temptation – Be connected to the loving care of our mother Mary – Bring about peace in our country. Pamela Nwagbo is a parishioner of SS Peter and Paul, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos.

MCA, Lagos Archdiocese at August Holy Mass celebration

The children of the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), Lagos Archdiocese come together on the last Saturday of every month at the Holy Cross Cathedral to pray for everyone, especially for the children of the Archdiocese and the world at large. It is a rotational celebration which enables the children of every Deanery to attend monthly. The Holy Mass is often celebrated by the PMS Director, Rev. Fr. Simeon Irabor and all other activities are carried out by the children of the MCA. The live broadcast of the Holy Mass is shown on Lumen Christi TV
