The twice postponed Mass Wedding, Baptism and First Holy Communion Ceremonies due to the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic finally came up Saturday 3rd October at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Igbogila, Ipaja Deanery of the Archdiocese of Lagos amidst strict Covid-19 precautionary protocols. On ground to concelebrate the Holy Eucharist were Very Revd. Fr. Lawrence Nwaneri, Cssp, Parish Priest; Associate Parish Priest, Revd. Fr. Joachim Erhabor and a visiting Deacon, Revd. Samson Obilor.
Delivering a soul searching homily, the Associate Priest, Fr. Erhabor reminded the seven couples present that marriage is an institution designed, packaged and sealed by God and handed over to humanity under the name of Sacrament of Matrimony. The Homilist pointed out that the marriage is not a bed of roses and that it is full of challenges advising them that it is very important and necessary to involve God when planning your marriage to bless and stamp the grace needed on it so as to overcome some of the ups and downs that are always associated with marriages.
While warning them to settle their differences amicably without involving the third party, he noted that many marriages have broken as a result of lack of love, trust and understanding, “Cooperate with each other to raise a good home worthy of emulation” Fr. Erhabor stressed. Turning to the candidates who presented themselves for the Sacrament at Baptism and First Holy Communion, he admonished them to allow the spirit and light of Christ in them to keep burning saying a life without Christ is a dead life observing that if they live their life in Christ they will resurrect with Him on the last day. Always go for the sacrament of reconciliation when you have sinned and live a life of Grace Fr. Erhabor enjoined them. He demanded from them a sinless life for their own good since a life filled with sin will do them no good. In all seven couples were joined in Holy wedlock, sixty three received the sacrament of Baptism while thirteen received first Holy Communion.
