- As St. Augustine CCM celebrate Couples’ Day
The Confraternity of Christian Mothers CCM, St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ikorodu, Lagos recently celebrated the annual Couples’ Day with funfair. The event, dedicated to married couples and reaffirming the sacred bonds of matrimony was held in an atmosphere filled with love, gratitude, and spiritual renewal. The celebration commenced with Holy Mass by Rev. Fr. Banarbas Dudiegha, who emphasised the importance of love, commitment, and the grace of God in sustaining a marriage. “Marriage is a divine partnership,” Fr. Banarbas advised.

“Today, we give thanks for the gift of love and renew our vows to support and cherish one another in Christ’s name.” The CCM gathered immediately after the Mass at the church pavilion where they met and distributed food stuffs and gifts to widows and dedicated members of the society. The day also featured presentation of awards and recognition of outstanding couples who shown commitment and resilience in the face of challenging times. Claret Hall, the reception venue came alive as a couples were treated to sumptuous meals of local delicacies and couple games, especially those who have married for over 10 years. The DJ added to the festive spirit with soul lifting music.
Notable parishioners in attendance, included the CMO Deanery Coordinator, Sir & Lady Olizemeka, Laity Chairman, Mr. Ligbago; PPC Vice Chairman, Mr. Ojiawuna, Mr. & Mrs. Shenjobi, Mr. & Mrs. Okpetu, Mr. & Mrs. Ayeni. The Awardees; Mr. & Mrs. Cyriacus Uwakwe and Maj. & Mrs. Athanasius Anyaegbulem received the Ruby 40th Wedding anniversary award. Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Osakwe got the Aluminium 10th Year wedding anniversary award while Matron Better Oliha went home with the Distinguished Woman of Faith Award.
Engr. & Mrs. Andrew Afuwape and Mr. & Mrs. Kingsley Obi took home the Unique Couple Award. Phar. (Mrs.) Eunice Ezeokeke, President of CCM, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation of members, emphasising that the significance of such celebrations is to foster a strong, faith-based community. Mrs Helen Ngoka a.k.a First Lady, appreciated all the committee members for their moral support towards the success of this year’s Couples Day.
