LUCIANO Global Development Initiative, a non-governmental and non-profitmaking organization recently celebrated its fifth anniversary in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Igbogila, Ipaja Deanery of the Archdiocese of Lagos honouring thirty-six personalities across all strata of the economy. The fifth anniversary which coincided with the World Creativity and Innovation day, on April 21, marked by LUCIANO Global Development Initiative in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Nigeria attracted dignitaries from far and near. The Founder and CEO of LUCIANO Global Development Initiative, Mrs. Adekemi Lucy Adetuwo -Olaniyi said the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the organization was coincidental with the World Creativity and Innovation Day. She said that the vision of the Non-Governmental Organization is to ensure a world of positive social change for all and a mission to inspire, empower and deliver value to the socially – excluded through advocacy, capacity building collaboration, networking and restore hope to the less privileged and sensitization for a healthier society.
“We have a goal to promote literacy and framework of learning, ensure that children from the low income houses have the opportunity to read and write, provide reading culture and motivate children to join “Renders Club and Spelling B contest and provide all the necessary tools and resource promoting literacy etc.” said Mrs. Adetuwo – Olaniyi. Today, LUCIANO Global Development Initiative collaboration/networking partners are over thirteen and among them are, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, United Nations Information Centre, (UNIC) Nigeria, Alimosho Local Government, Life Partners Foundation, Viju Milk Company and Perdoc Group of Companies among others. The event has in attendance representatives of the United Nations Information Center, (UNIC) Nigeria, Ms. Adeola Adedeji, Public Information Assistant; Mrs. Grace Akinfoyewa representing the Hon. Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Education and her counterpart from the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr. Lanre Olupitan. Others were chairman, Ayobo/Ipaja LCDA, Royal Fathers, Rev. Fathers, and members of the Board of Trustees and staff of the LGDI. In recognition of their support and co-operation, LUCIANO Global Development Initiative honoured some individuals and corporate bodies notably:- United Nations Information Centre,(UNIC) Nigeria, Chapel of Light and Hope, Awake Engineering Services Ltd., Rev. Fr. Simeon Irabor and Lady Abimbola Ajimotokan, Prince Rotimi Akinniyi, Pa. Robert Ughutevbe to mention but a few.
