As parts of its efforts to secure lives of residents, and reduce cases of unwarranted deaths in the state, the Lagos State Government has announced plans to arrest and prosecute people caught crossing roads where foot bridges have been made available for pedestrian use. Urging the people to adhere to this warning from the state government, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor, said that this exercise which took off on Monday, March 18, 2024, is aimed at overcoming road mishaps and ensuring the safety of Lagosians.
He advised residents in the state to ensure they abide by the law at all times, as he encouraged those who have got the awareness to share this important message across all social media platform and inform all their family, relatives, friends, neighbours among others, to desist from crossing any road that has a pedestrian bridge. He added that Lagos State Government does not want lose any soul to express road accident. According to him, “Lagos State Governor wishes to secure the lives and properties of indigenes, non-indigenes and all who work inside Lagos state.”
