• Over 400 Priests to attend
The Catholic Lagos Archdiocese is set to hold Communications Seminar for over 400 priests. The Seminar, with the theme ‘The Use of the Digital Media as Tool of Evangelisation in the COVID-19 Era’ will be held simultaneously on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in the three regions of the Archdiocese, with Lagos and Ikeja regions compressed together. The Seminar is being organised by the Priests Welfare Committee in conjunction with the Directorate of Social Communications. According to Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Godonu, Director, Directorate of Social Communications, Lagos Archdiocese, the segmented seminars are meant to improve the communications skills of priests in the use of the digital media while also empowering them with appropriate means of relating better with their parishioners and the society at large, especially in the post COVID-19 era.
The Communication experts slated to speak at the respective Seminars include Very Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh, National Director of Social Communications of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria; Rev. Sr. Josephine Odorwike, EHJ, Communications Director, EHJ Media; Rev. Fr. Peter Akodo and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Nduibisi, Mr. Tony Chiejina and Mr. Timi Oyedare About 400 Priests have been invited to attend the Seminar in the four regions encompassing their respective Deaneries cum Parishes. Fr. Godonu said, “About 400 priests drawn from the 20 Deaneries of the Archdiocese of Lagos are expected to participate in the segmented Seminars. 100 Priests are to participate at each venue. The Seminar will be held in the designated parishes within the planned regions. St. Agnes Catholic Church, Maryland; Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac Town and SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Lekki, Lagos, will serve as individual venues for Ikeja and Lagos, Badagry and Lekki regions/ deaneries. The Social Communications Director listed the parishes within the various regions.

Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos is the Chief Host of the segmented Seminars. According to the Archbishop, the seminar would enhance communication of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our visually-driven, ever changing world utilising technology and media.
