A new set of executives has emerged in the Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria, Lagos Ecclesiastical Province (CWONLEP), to steer the affairs of the organisation for the next four years. The emergence of the new team, which marked the climax of the 2025 CWONLEP General Assembly held at Holy Child College, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos, produced Lady Catherine Alabi as President. She takes over from Mrs. Grace Amani, who successfully led the organisation from August 2021 to August 2025. In her acceptance speech, Lady Alabi expressed profound gratitude to God and members of CWONLEP for entrusting her with the leadership of the organisation.
“I stand before you today humble and filled with a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your CWONLEP President. I recognise that this position is not earned but a gift from our Lord. With God’s help and our collective efforts, we can achieve great things for our organisation and God’s kingdom,” she said. She pledged to lead with humility, fairness, compassion, and deep love for God and humanity, while calling on members to pray for her and the new executive team. Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Famoroti, CWONLEP Chaplain congratulated the new executives, describing their emergence as “A call to service and a testament to the trust reposed in them.”
He also commended the outgoing team for their sacrifices and achievements, praying that both teams continue to work together in faith. Similarly, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Ikuomola, CWONLA Chaplain urged the outgoing executives to support the new team, stressing that the organisation’s goals are achievable only through unity and collaboration. In her goodwill statement, Hon. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Sonubi, National President of CWON, also congratulated the new executives and praised the dedication of the outgoing team.

“Your election is a call to greater service, and I urge you to lead with faith, humility, and commitment to the ideals of our Organisation,” she said, adding that the foundation laid by the past executives must be built upon for the growth of CWON and the Church. The General Assembly formally acknowledged the outgoing executives led by Mrs. Grace Amani, whose tenure recorded several strides in faith-based initiatives and organisational growth.
Lady Alabi, an accomplished entrepreneur, brings to CWONLEP a distinguied record of leadership. She has held several enviable positions, including CWO Parish President, Coordinator of CWONLA, Lagos Island Deanery, and President of CWONLA
