The human race has been called upon to promote, protect, and groom life which is a gift from God, to its natural end, and desist from preventing or terminating it no matter the circumstance or situation they may find themselves. The charge was given by Rev. Fr. Andrew Abhulime, Parish Priest, Ss. Joachim and Anne Catholic Church, Ijegun, while speaking at a Pro-life seminar, organised by the Knights and Ladies of the Order of St. Mulumba, (KSM/LSM) Region 4, Lagos Metropolitan Council, held recently at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Ikotun, Lagos.

Fr. Abhulime urged every human person to say yes to life, adding that they should not perpetrate the evil of taking life or be indifferent to the act. According to him, “We should always say yes to life. Any act or inaction that impedes life is unnatural, and therefore, evil. As ambassadors of life, we must carry this message to the entire society, so that life will not just be tolerated, but be protected and enhanced.” Calling on parents and government to collaborate and work for the protection and promotion of life, the priest noted that life is the highest value of existence, adding that people should be Prolife, and shun the inconveniences or shame linked to supposed ‘unwanted pregnancies’.
He urged parents and guardians to be agents of formation, educate their wards on morals and balanced sex education, according to their ages, as he advised the youths to ensure they avoid psychological trauma and other defects caused by contraceptives and abortion. Also speaking on the occasion, Worthy Brother Fabian Ewendu, Grand Knight Idimu Sub-Council and Coordinating Grand Knight, Region 4, Lagos Metropolitan Council, disclosed that the seminar is Catholic programme, held worldwide to sensitise humans of the bad effects of anti-life acts of abortion and contraceptives. He said the young ones really need to hear the message, hence the group arranged a lecture on pro-life, where schools, young people are invited in order to be educated on these things and eventually pass what they have learnt to others.
According to him, “We use these young ones to reach out to others, making them know that this thing you’re going to do, it’s not good. This thing you’re going to do, you have to refrain from it. That’s the message we’re trying to pass. Noting that the act of abortion is more prevalent in married couples, the GK said every life matters, adding that the child one is planning to abort today, could be a great personality tomorrow, which is exactly the message the Order is trying to pass across.
