The drums were rolled out recently at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, when the Knights of St. John International (KSJI), St. Peter Claver Commandery 838, Ajao Estate, Lagos celebrated its 10th anniversary in grand style. The event which began with Mass, had as its theme, “Giant Strides In A Decade (With God’s Faithfulness)”, and was graced by high ranking Knights of the Order, Ladies of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Laux 739, as well as friends and well-wishers of the great Commandery.
Expressing joy on the occasion, Noble (Sir) Fidel Ononuju, the Worthy President, said Commandery 838 was molded in the image of a family apostolate, and has grown as a single unit where the members do things together. He noted that it is an exemplary Commandery in Lagos Archdiocese where everybody teams up to support the mission and vision, and work together to achieve great things in the Commandery. For Sir Dennis Okafor, Past Worthy President, and a pioneer member, it is a wonderful celebration of a journey that was started couple of years back, from the idea of few men who came together to establish the Commandery, which is reckoned with when it comes to carrying out activities of the Church.

Sir Andy Umeobi, Charter Worthy President, said Commandery 838 is a Commandery inspired and sustained by the Holy Spirit, adding that the Commandery is a pacesetter, graced with great, quality and hardworking Knights. For Lady Amaka Obiora, Charter Respected President, Auxiliary 739, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Ajao Estate, the Commandery is unique, with wonderful knights. According to her, the Commandery consists of quality and focused Knights who are desirous to do God’s work using all they have; their talents, treasures and time. Captain Dave Nsoedo, Commander, St. Peter Claver Commandery 838, Ajao Estate noted that from the take-off, despite challenges, the Commandery remains a family unit where what touches one, touches all, adding that they team up to do things and achieve great feats in the Commandery.
Sir Francis Ifedi, Pioneer Treasurer, expressed joy that the Commandery from inception is existing and waxing strong and looked upon by others as an exemplary Commandery in Lagos Archdiocese, which they are happy about. According to him, “It’s not by our making, it’s by God’s making that we grew up to that and it is also possible through the cooperation of all the members. The Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Omoroke, as well as Rev. Fr. Philip Uchendu, Parish Priest, St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, urged the Knights and Ladies to ensure they continue to defend one another and the faith in all their activities, as they congratulated the Knights, and prayed that the Commandery will continue to grow in strength.
