Sir Patrick Nwalo, Grand Knight, Knights of St. Mulumba, Ketu Sub-Council, has bemoaned the excruciating condition of the Nigerian economy, noting that the high cost of living has made life difficult for most citizens. According to Sir Nwalo, the current economic hardship in the country has made it imperative for every citizen to girdle their loin, be prayerful, and readjust their priorities to overcome the challenges of the year 2024. Speaking recently in Lagos at a function held at St. Mulumba’s House, Surulere, Lagos, the Grand Knight urged the privileged in society to be more charitable in their actions by reaching out more to support the poor and needy. He equally called on the government to listen to the cries of the masses, and provide incentives that would help alleviate the prevailing suffering in the land.
Similarly, Worthy Sister Agatha Ogbechie, President of the Ladies of St. Mulumba, Ketu Sub-council, while collaborating with Sir Nwalo’s views on the state of the economy, called on women to be more proactive and prudent on the home front. She urged them to be more innovative in helping their husbands who are often the sole providers of their families. “Every woman must join her husband to support the family, both with prayers and economically.
We should not leave the burden of providing for the families to husbands alone. We must support them to ensure that the family unit is not neglected”, she said. Sir Peter Kehinde Awokunleyin, the immediate past Grand Knight of Ketu Sub-council admonished members to always ensure they use their time, talent, and treasure for the glory of God. According to him, God at times uses hardship to give lessons to His faithful, just as the Catholic faith teaches. He urged the people to be steadfast in anticipation of positive situations.
