The Holy Year which occurs every 25 years, will be marked by a series of Jubilee events in Rome for various sectors of the society. Each month will feature significant moments celebrating faith and community, offering numerous opportunities to participate in ceremonies, pilgrimages, and acts of solidarity.

DECEMBER 2024
December 24: The Jubilee officially begins on Christmas Eve with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, a powerful ceremony led by Pope Francis. This event at Peter’s Basilica marks the spiritual “gateway” for the year ahead.
December 26: The Holy Door at Rebibbia Prison in Rome opens, bringing the spirit of Jubilee to those who may not be able to travel to traditional holy sites.
December 29: St. John Lateran Basilica, another of Rome’s major basilicas, opens its Holy Door, inviting pilgrims to begin their Jubilee journey with reconciliation and renewal.
JANUARY 2025
The month of January will be dedicated to New Year celebrations, with numerous solemn masses and prayer meetings. Special events for families and young people will be organised, promoting unity and solidarity.
January 1: St. Mary Major Basilica opens its Holy Door, adding to the growing pilgrimage opportunities for visitors and locals alike.
January 5: The Holy Door at St. Paul Outside the Walls opens, completing the set of four major basilicas in Rome with open doors for pilgrims.
January 24-26: Jubilee of the World of Communications, celebrating media professionals who help spread the message of faith and hope. Meeting with the Pope in Paul VI Hall on January 25 at 12:30 p.m and Mass with the Pope at 10a.m in St. Peter’s Basilica on January 26.
FEBRUARY 2025
February will see the launch of charitable initiatives throughout Rome, with a particular focus on the poor and needy. Conferences and workshops on social and spiritual topics will be held, involving local and international communities.
February 8-9: Jubilee of Armed Forces, Police, and Security Personnel, recognising the service and dedication of those who protect and serve. Mass presided over by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square on February 9 at 10 a.m.
February 15-18: Jubilee of Artists, honouring creativity and artistic expression as gifts that uplift and inspire faith.

In March, Rome will host an international pilgrimage of parishes, with faithful coming from all corners of the world. Guided tours of the city’s sacred sites, conferences, and moments of community prayer will be organized.
March 8-9: Jubilee of the World of Volunteering, celebrating the generosity and compassion of volunteers who embody the spirit of service. Mass presided over by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square on March 9 at 10 a.m.
March 28: As part of the “24 Hours for the Lord” event. The pope will preside over a penitential vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica.

April will be marked by Easter celebrations, including the Way of the Cross at the Colosseum and the Easter Mass in St. Peter’s Square. These events will attract thousands of pilgrims and will be broadcast live worldwide.
April 5-6: Jubilee of the Sick and Health Care Workers, dedicated to those who work tirelessly to care for others. Mass presided over by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square on April 6 at 10:30 a.m.
April 25-27: Jubilee of Teenagers, one of the year’s most vibrant gatherings, aimed at inspiring the next generation.

September 20: Jubilee of Justice Workers, focused on promoting fairness and integrity in society. Catechesis with the Pope at 12 p.m.
