Continued from last week
He knows about the children who inflict great anxiety and worry on their parents when they leave home to seek adventure, and so he gave the parable of the prodigal son; He knows about the pains of parents over heady and stubborn children, so He told the parable of the two sons sent to work in the vineyard (Mt.21: 28-31); He knows about the agony of parents whose children suffer one form of violence or another, and so He told the parable of the wicked tenants in (MK 12: 1- 9). He is sensitive to the embarrassment that shortage of money and material means can have for families and so He performed His first miracle at the wedding of Cana (Jn 2: 1-10); He knows about the anxieties of families concerning the success of their plans and so He told the parable of the guests who failed to turn up for the banquet prepared for them (Matt. 22: 1-10); He knows about the anxieties of a poor family which has to watch over her little possession with care, and so He told the parable of the lost coin (LK. …8-10). My brothers and sisters, Jesus knows about all the troubles as families, and he is concerned about them. In fact, He came down to the earth in order to restore the original idea of God for families. He comes to heal the brokenness that has become all too evident in many families. He comes to re-establish the primordial dignity of the family.
