The leading social cultural recreation Club in the country, Ikoyi Club 1938 has announced plans to host a memorable eighty six years anniversary.In a press conference to herald the anniversary , the Vice Chairman of the Club who also doubles as the Chairman of the anniversary planning Committee, Mr. Rufai Ladipo explained that the weeklong anniversary starting this Wednesday and tagged Ikoyi Club: Repositioning For the Modern Age will kick off witha symposium with the Deputy Governor of Lagos State His Excellency, Obafemi Hamza as the key speaker just as he stated that the Deputy Governor’s insights into leadership and governance will undoubtedly resonate with the club’s theme of repositioning as well as provide invaluable perspectives as it chart the course for the future of the club.
He noted that as the club rolls out the drums to celebrate 86 years of achievement, they will reflect on their journey with immense pride and anticipation for the future. ” This year, as we commemorate yet another milestone in the rich history of Ikoyi Club 1938, we reflect on our journey with immense pride and anticipation for the future.” Over the decades, our club has not only remained a beacon of excellence but has also adapted and thrived in the ever- evolving landscape of social and recreational life in Nigeria.
Ladipo explained that as the club moves forward, it is guided by a strategic roadmap that outlines it’s vision for next several years , leading up to its Centennial celebration positing that the road map is designed to ensure that the club not only maintains it’s position as the country’s premier social and recreational club but also adapts to the evolving needs of members and the society at large. The anniversary planning Committee Chairman also noted that as the club celebrates it’s anniversary, they’re not just looking back at their achievement but also setting the stage for a future that is bright, inclusive and sustainable.” Our commitment to excellence remains unwavering and we’re confident that the steps we take today will prepare the club for the next level of growth, admiration and overall satisfaction of our growing membership “, he stressed.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Club, Tafa Zibiri- Aliu noted that they’re proud they’ve continued to maintain the legacy of the club which has continued to attract more members with over 3000 people trying to become join the club.He described the club as the only sociocultural club in Africa with eight sections positing that they will not compromise on standard just as he promised they will continue to upgrade facilities in the club which are world class.The anniversary celebration will feature a series of events designed to engage, educate and entertain members and guests. There will also be award nite for staff, children party and gala nite to round off the event.
