The Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) of Ijede Deanery, Lagos, recently held its second Annual General Meeting (AGM) and recognition of outstanding members and elders in the group, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Ijede, Lagos. The twin event was a celebration of joy, gratitude, and dedication. The AGM was attended by over 500 delegates and friends drawn from the fifteen parishes that make up the Deanery, including the LACMON President, Bar. Kingsley Ekwem, his Deputy, Prince Kunle Oyekanmi, the Vice President, Ikeja Region, Prince Michael Oyeniyi, the National Public Relations Officer of the Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria, Engr. Uchenna Ezeoke and the Chairman of the LACMON Convention, Mr. John Maka, among others.

Delivering the homily at the Mass, concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Steve-Greg who stood in for the Dean, Very Rev. Fr. Joe Ben Onyia, the Chaplain of the Ijede Deanery CMO, Rev. Fr. Austin Ichefu congratulated the men for their sense of dedication, particularly their resolve to honour outstanding members and the elderly who have served the organisation over the years, urging them not to rest on their oars.

He noted that in a world faced with increasing secularism, individualism, and often hostile to our values: “As Catholic men, we are called to be bold, courageous, and faithful witnesses to the Gospel. As we look to the future, let us recommit ourselves to our mission of evangelisation, service, and fraternity. Let us continue to support one another, to pray for one another, and to work together for the greater glory of God.” During the Mass, the visibly happy men danced to the altar for their thanksgiving with their gifts, according to their parishes.
