I recently read through the article entitled, ‘Let My People Go,’ written by Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Fadairo, and I must confess he readily spoke the minds of many of us. The reasons being given by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the continuous closure of Churches are neither here nor there. While it is true that he has the duty of safeguarding the lives of Lagosians, particularly against COVID-19, it is also true that he cannot continue to close down Churches indefinitely. As Christians, our worship revolves round coming together as a community of God’s people. We believe that our coming together to pray will go a long way to bring a lasting cure for the virus. We are tired of staying at home on Sundays when we are expected to come together and call on God’s name. If the market places and garages can be opened, there are no justifiable reasons to still keep the worship centres under lock and key. I expect the governor to ensure that the health guidelines are judiciously adhered to. Let’s not allow the spirit of fear becloud our faith in God
