…As MCSS honours Sr. Adepoju
Christians have been charged to always thank God and credit Him for their achievements, as He is the source of all gifts and creative tendencies in humans, which is intended to be put into good use at every point in time. This was posited by Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Ikuomola, while delivering the homily, during the Thanksgiving Mass in honour of Rev. Sr. Agnes Adepoju, OLA, former Administrator of Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School (MCSS), Maryland, Lagos, held recently in the school premises. Fr. Ikuomola reminded the people that God provided, built, protected Sr. Agnes, and they are celebrating her as someone who journeys in the Lord Jesus, the Holy Eucharistic and the Word, as an instrument in the hands of God throughout her 11 years as administrator in MCSS.
While appreciating the celebrant for her good deeds, he assured her of the blessings God still has in store for her, adding that God rewards with the gift of life, mercy, and strength that accompanies one in all they do. He assured the new Administrator, Sr. Charity Ifere, OLA that God will journey with her as He did with her sister, encouraging her to wear her own shoes as there are different missions for different people. Msgr. Anthony Obanla, Chancellor, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, thanked God for Sr. Adepoju’s mission in MCSS, the Archdiocese at large, expressing confidence in Sr. Ifere, the new administrator to continue the good work. Making remarks at the reception, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, expressed gladness looking back at Sr. Adepoju’s tenure as administrator of the school for 11 years.

Archbishop Martins thanked God, and the leadership of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Sisters, for sending Sister Adepoju to MCSS and the opportunity of building the school, expressing confidence that Sr. Ifere is more than equal to carry on the task handed on to her, as it is in the DNA of OLA Sisters to do well in their assignments. Sr. Charity Ifere, the new Administrator, thanked Sr. Adepoju for the gigantic projects she carried out in MCSS, and all she had done for the growth of the school and for the students by the power of God. For Sr. Agnes Adepoju, she expressed happiness and appreciation to the students, parents, and staff as well as the priests and religious who have journeyed with her in her mission in MCSS and the Archdiocese as a whole.
She extended her gratitude to the Landers Association, and different sets of the alumni associations, past and present members of PTA for their encouragement and generosity to the growth of the school. She thanked the students, past and present, for being the heart of her ministry, urging them to set examples in speech, conduct, love, faith and unity, as she appreciated her successor, Sr. Ifere for her care, selflessness and courageous spirit.
