Parishioners of St. Michael Catholic Church, Lafiaji, Lagos had an extra lift to their celebration during the Galilee Day fiesta held on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, with the re-naming of Upper Strachan Street to St. Michael’s Lane. The memorable feat is finally being achieved after a six-year campaign by parishioners to the Local Government Authority to rename the street after St. Michael Catholic Church.

The Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Ighabor was delighted to bless the commissioned street name which was performed by the Vice Chairman of the Lagos Island East Local Government. Parishioners from far and near were present to witness the historic event. Vice Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council, Chief Olawumi Gasper, other sons and daughters of Lafiaji graced the occasion. Ashiwaju of Lafiaji, Mr. Babatunde Abozos who compered the event, as well as Chief Gregory Enahoro were elated and grateful to God for their achievements in bringing about the name change, and with the turn out of parishioners and friends of the iconic church.
