…As Sir Olagunju, Lumen Christi celebrate
The attention of Catholics have been drawn to the importance of thanksgiving, as they are advised to ensure they are at Mass whenever they have thanksgiving, because those who have something to give back to God are expected to do it in His presence. This was the position of Very Rev. Fr. Matthew Ogunyase while delivering the homily, during the thanksgiving Mass, marking the 60th birthday of Sir (Prince) Robert Soji Olagunju and 10th anniversary of Lumen Christi Catholic Television Network, held recently at the premises in Lekki, Lagos.
According to Fr. Ogunyase, not many Catholics understand the nature of the thanksgiving of the Mass, as he said that some come late, while others do not show up for their thanksgiving Mass. Fr. Ogunyanse commended Sir Olagunju for being a man who is full of gratitude to God, and never takes things for granted, noting that the double celebration comes at a special time of the Fatima Message which is very important in the life of the Church. On the celebrant’s diamond jubilee, he said, “There can never be a better time to say thank you Lord for bringing us this far. “God will lead you till the end. You will have every cause to celebrate and be grateful for the gift of your life, for the gift of the Lumen Christi Television which you have given to the Catholic world, not only in Nigeria but in Africa.” For his part, the celebrant thanked God and all present for being there for the Lumen Christi family for the past 10 years.
He thanked God for the gift of life, stating that it has been good so far, and God has been faithful. He added that he has no regret founding the television network. According to him, “It took me 30 years to go to the banking world, then God brought me back to come and do mass communication.” On Our Lady of Fatima, he noted the importance of Mother Mary’s messages, adding that what is happening in the world can only be mitigated if people pray fervently. He urged the people to take their prayer life seriously, attend Mass regularly, and recite the Rosary. “It is extremely important. Mother Mary said we should recite the Rosary. Let us cultivate the habit of doing it daily. Same thing goes for Divine Mercy at 3 O’clock. You will be shocked what the result could be like”, he said.
Present at the event were priests and religious, including, Very Rev. Msgr. Patrick Obayomi, Dean, Ikeja Deanery; Very Rev. Msgr. Pascal Nwaezeapu, Episcopal Vicar, Lekki Region; Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Fadairo, Episcopal Vicar, Ikeja Region; Very Rev. Fr. Stephen Akinsowon, Dean, Ajah Deanery; Very Rev. Fr.
