The Parish Priest of St. Denis Catholic Church, Akoka, Lagos, Rev. Fr. Theodore Martinos has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari over the peace deal with protesters of #EndSARS in Nigeria. Commending the President’s efforts at ensuring peace, Fr. Martinos applauded the President for his interventions at ensuring the youths conduct themselves peacefully and cautioned against violence. In his speech the President said “it’s unfortunate that the initial genuine well intended protest of Nigeria Youths against SARS was hijacked and misdirected. This government accepted all the demands and proceeded to scrap SARS immediately and started procedures at addressing the other demands by the youths”. The erudite priest who joined in the youths’ protest in Akoka- Bariga added that he is convinced that the sober reflections by the President will no doubt douse the already heightened tensions of the protesters. He however said in what would have been another right step but not commiserated speech, chides President Buhari on his meeting with National security and former Heads of states over what he called a non-encompassing address for non-mention of the Lagos Lekki’s killings. This, Rev. Fr. Theodore Martino’s added is not a welcomed development.
