On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) Port Harcourt, Nigeria, played host to Rev. Fr.George Ehusani as the Guest Lecturer at the Symposium organised by the Institute on “Psycho-Spiritual Integration.” Participants at the symposium were lecturers and students from both the Port Harcourt and the Obehie campuses of CIWA, led by the Ag. Rector, Rev. (Prof.) Jude Asanbe, and Rev. Fr Andrew Otu, Head of Department of Spiritual Theology. Fr Ehusani’s two hour lecture was on “Psycho-Spiritual Integration as the Pathway to Wholeness and Holism.” It was followed by a rich interactive session between the participants and himself.

The symposium was an occasion for Fr. Ehusani, the Founder of the Psycho-Spiritual Institute of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, to explain to the audience (made up of teachers and students of various theological and pastoral disciplines) the imperative of integrating psychotherapy into spiritual care on the one hand, and integrating spirituality into psychotherapeutic care on the other, towards achieving greater success in facilitating the healing as well as wholesome growth and maturity of the human person. At the end of the encounter, there was a strong desire and request from the lecturers and students alike, for a replication in Nigeria – possibly in CIWA, of the Psycho-Spiritual Institute for the training of Psycho-Spiritual Therapists, which Lux Terra is presently running in Nairobi, Kenya.
