Though he has been buried, the impactful life of the late Very Rev. Fr. Michael Adebayo will not be forgotten in a hurry. The late Very Rev Fr Michael Adebayo, says Rev Fr Gabriel Adeleke, former Parish Priest of Catholic Church of Presentation, Abule-Egba, prepared for his death ahead of time. Speaking at a Requiem mass for the repose of the late priest who was also a former chaplain in the military, Fr. Adeleke recalled that the late priest was sick for a long time, which gave him the adequate opportunity to prepare and make amends where necessary. He described the late clergyman as one who worked tirelessly for the church and the country. While urging the lay faithful to always remember their priests in prayers, he said, “Priests are not angels, we have our struggles, trials and shortcomings. If a lay person is tempted 10 times in a day, expect that a priest will be tested 50 times. While challenging his brother priests to take their spiritual life seriously, he warned that they should never be contented with being ‘mere signposts for people’ but should struggle to make heaven at the end of their sojourn on earth.
